All that is left is the truth... real talk, we need to be hearing from this man, and not just in a little youtube interview, I mean on a broader scale. We are too quick to jump to conclusions before hearing different sides. I do not support war in any fashion, but this Invisible Children campaign may be doing Mr. Kony injustice. The allegations of mutilating children may still be true, but we must recognize that we do not know until we gather more information. There could be some ulterior motives at work.

Keep up the good stuff brother. I love coming on this site.

I concur with Chad. Having been raised in the anabaptist tradition, I fully understand your overarching point that war is never a solution.

While I won't pretend to go to bat for an organization I, quite honestly, only heard of because of its viral video, I will say that it was not Invisible Children that put Kony on the top of the international most wanted list. And although many people misconstrued some of the points made in the video (which is likely to happen when a bunch of information is dumped on 30 million people all at once) Kony's record of being a sinister man capable of horrible atrocities is not really in dispute, whether he's currently in Uganda or not.

Had it not been for the video, most of us would have continued to go to bed as we always have, not giving the plight of children and families touched by his terror the slightest thought.

The video did not state outright that his army is comprised entirely of children. His kidnapping and brainwashing of children has been going on for decades, so it's no surprise that the soldiers encountered during the interview were not children. Of course, if I were him, I would have kept any child soldiers out of sight.

Further, I don't think the video was proposing war. It was proposing stepped-up U.S. assistance to capture a man wanted for crimes against humanity. It's unlikely Kony will turn himself in anytime soon, and an unarmed search party would most certainly be slaughtered upon delivering his arrest warrant.

You are correct that he is certainly not the only problem. The Ugandan army is reputed to be extremely corrupt. But then, so are a great number of governments and armies in the world. Before pressure from Invisible Children, no attention was being paid to this issue by the United States. If momentum can be maintained - the chances of which I am highly skeptical - then once Kony is brought to whatever justice befalls him we can focus on the next problem. With any luck, his demise will serve as an example to others of what fate awaits them.

Tyrants like him and so many others have been bee allowed to gain their power through our indifference and, in some cases, through the direct assistance of the United States, Russia (or former Soviet Union), China, England, you name it. It's about time we invested in something like this, where our national interests are not at stake, but it's still the morally right thing to do.

I don't entirely disagree with your position that "the most effective means of facilitating and achieving world peace is simply by being peaceful." However, the people who have fallen victim to Kony (or the Ugandan army, for that matter) be they children or adults, soldiers or female sex slaves, were trying to live peacefully. Look what it got them.

Hah! Your point?
The graphic leaves a few "wars" out.
The conflict with the international communist effort to export worldwide revolution has been going on since the bolsheviks took over Russia, not just during the "Cold War, so that fills in some of the empty spaces.
Likewise, America has been battling Islamic extremists on and off since the administration of Thomas Jefferson, with particular flareups like the murders of Americans in Lebanon, Europe, and Israel and the invasion of U.S. territory in Teheran in 1979.
To exist as a free country able to defend its ability to conduct its affairs ANYWHERE is inevitably to be in conflict with those who wish to destroy or dominate you.
...or have someone else handle the conflict for you. That's been America's job since it was founded. For her own sake and the sake of dozens of other countries who enjoy living under U.S. protection, frequently without doing much to earn it.
Of course, it doesn't have to be that way.
Tibet, for example, has been at "peace" ever since the Chinese graciously assumed administration over its affairs in 1949. How's "peace" working out for them?
Which scenario would you prefer?
There really are only those two options.

I completely agree with your point BUT what do we do then just sit by and watch people die/suffer and hope the bad guys will feel bad enough to stop? We can boycott/place sanctions/send arrest warrants and a whole multitude of peaceful means of waging war but if you knew the world wanted you gone/arrested/dead would you give up or fight to the bitter end and hold on to power as long as you can?....Truth is, truly support your sentiment if we lived in an ideal world but we don't so we have to do something...maybe its because of ignorance that I don't see an alternative

Ha. We've been trying (and succeeding) to remain in a state of war since WWII. Once the military spending got us out of the depression American lawmakers and industry heads feared we'd fall back economically without war... which brings us to today. Just as Obama is pulling out troops in a dangerously combustible Iraq, Iran and Israel (a country that the world sees as America's satellite in the Middle East) are ready to duke it out. Best believe we will get involved in that confrontation. We'd never let Israel ride by herself. Obama is just waiting for the polls to close in November. Gotta love politics.

The media, conducive to the establishment, has a vested interest in NOT airing Ron Paul. Recently they have somewhat increased their coverage on Ron Paul, but it's usually in a bias context with an agenda to undermine his campaign and make him seem like a "crazy old man". What truly baffles me is during the debates when they ask the public to tweet the most viable candidate, the turn out is always in favor of Ron Paul but when it comes to the polls he doesn't receive the same support. What could possibly be happening here? Are the Ron Paul enthusiasts too young to vote, are they too lazy to get to the polls or are the primary polls straight up rigged? Nonetheless Ron Paul deviates from the superficial topics of the debate and forces his opponents to acknowledge the core of Americas issues. Unfortunately enough, the media knows that people don't watch the debates and allows them to gain the threshold on the Ron Paul image. I will continue to expose the establishment and its media puppets in these regards!

I will always stand up for my rights as we [the people] are the last line of defense to the constitution and our rights. The NDAA is an outright and intolerable abuse of our individual civil liberties and habeas corpus. It's unfortunate that such a congress would allow for legislation of this sort to pass into law. I will continue to enlighten the many in regards to such tyrannical and intrusive laws. Hopefully, it doesn't get to the point where they begin putting rifles to our heads and forcing us into labor camps before the many start speaking up and doing something about it! But by then, it may be too late...
